Who is Wicked Sunny?
Wicked Sunny (born Vikalp Dwivedi in Prayagraj, Uttar Pradesh) is an Indian rapper and singer working in Hindi desi hip-hop. Known for sharp, punchy writing and an everyman, hustle-driven persona, he became one of the recognisable new faces of India's booming rap scene.
Early career
He moved to Mumbai in 2013 to chase a career in rapping and made his debut with the track "Virasat" in 2019. He took his stage name from the character Akshay Kumar played in the 2004 film Mujhse Shaadi Karogi — a nod to a long-time idol.
Rise to recognition
His big break came as a semi-finalist on the hip-hop reality show MTV Hustle 2.0 in 2022, and in 2023 he sang the title track "Karm Ya Kaand" for the youth reality show Roadies Season 19, alongside rapper Super Manikk. A run of singles — "Sexy Lag Rha Tha", "Kha Pe Hoon", "Fake Gareebi", "Aadhi Shakti" and "Asli Hero" — built his following.
Debut EP: The Local Kid
In 2026 he opened a new chapter with his debut EP, The Local Kid — a five-track project chronicling the emotional highs and lows of adapting to life far from home. It includes Laal Gaddiyan, a pop-leaning single featuring Jeanette Bay, released through Times Music.
