Who is Talwiinder?
Talwiinder (born Talwinder Singh Sidhu on 23 November 1997) is an Indian singer, songwriter and music producer celebrated for a dreamy, genre-blurring sound that fuses Punjabi melody with Western indie, R&B and electronic textures. One of the most distinctive voices in the new wave of Punjabi alternative music, he has built a devoted global following.
Early life and influences
He began singing at the age of four and grew up between Punjab and the San Francisco Bay Area, moving to the US at fourteen. That dual upbringing shaped his music, which blends Punjabi songwriting with elements of trap, lo-fi, boom bap, drill and synth-pop into something atmospheric and modern.
Signature songs and "Misfit"
His biggest tracks include "Khayaal", with more than 60 million Spotify plays, and "Nasha", alongside "Gallan 4", "Dhundhala", "Wishes", "Your Eyes" and "Gaani". He has collaborated repeatedly with Pakistani singer-songwriter Hasan Raheem, and on 4 October 2024 he released his debut album Misfit, a 13-track record put out by Mass Appeal India.
The hidden face
Talwiinder is known for painting his face and keeping his appearance obscured, explaining that he wants to separate his personal and professional lives — and to make people listen to his music rather than focus on how he looks.
Recent work
In 2026 he brought his signature sound to Bollywood with Kyun, a romantic song from Welcome To The Jungle, produced by his longtime collaborator NDS.
