Who is Arjun Chandy?
Arjun Chandy is an Indo-American singer, vocal arranger, studio vocalist and vocal-group coach originally from Dallas, Texas. Raised in a deeply musical family — his grandmother was a lifelong Carnatic singer and teacher — he trained in Indian classical music as a child and expanded into Western styles through school choirs and quartets singing jazz, Motown and choral music.
Early career in the United States
He turned professional young, conducting and arranging for vocal groups across the United States by his mid-teens, and performed with the award-winning barbershop chorus The Vocal Majority. That dual fluency — Indian classical and Western harmony — would become his signature strength.
A move to Indian film music
A pivotal 2013 collaboration with composer A.R. Rahman brought him to Chennai, where he helped form NAFS, one of India's pioneering professional vocal-harmony groups. As both a featured voice and an arranger, he has since contributed the layered backing vocals and harmonies that give many modern film songs their depth.
Notable work and recent release
Chandy has lent his voice and arranging skills to Indian films including Tamasha, 2.0 and Tere Ishk Mein. In 2026 he was one of the lead voices on Aaya Sher from Nani's Telugu film The Paradise, composed by Anirudh Ravichander.
