Early career and breakthrough
She began posting music online as a teenager and released her debut album True Romance in 2013. Wider fame followed quickly: she co-wrote and featured on Icona Pop's "I Love It", featured on Iggy Azalea's number-one "Fancy", and scored her own top-10 hit with "Boom Clap" from The Fault in Our Stars. Her second album, Sucker (2014), leaned into bratty pop-punk energy.
The mixtapes and Charli
From the mid-2010s she worked closely with the PC Music collective and producer A. G. Cook, releasing the mixtapes Number 1 Angel and Pop 2 and the album Charli (2019).
