"Wink Wink" is a song about persona and perception, not the flirty come-on its title suggests. Charli xcx spends it pretending to renounce her wild, bad-girl image — then winks, so you know the promise is a bit. The whole joke lives in the gap between what she says and what she means.

The first verse piles up tongue-in-cheek confessions about the reckless person she supposedly used to be, each one waved away with the insistence that people can change. The chorus is the mock-sincere centrepiece — "I'm not a bad girl anymore, I promise" — undercut instantly by the title's "wink wink". By the second verse the "growth" turns absurdly specific: she trades a Porsche and racy one-liners for shopping at the minimalist label A.P.C.
