Who is Mithoon?
Mithoon (born Mithun Sharma on 11 January 1985 in Mumbai) is an Indian music composer, singer and lyricist, widely regarded as one of Hindi cinema's leading composers of the modern romantic ballad. Born into a Mumbai musical family and trained on the piano and keyboard, he has built his reputation on aching, melody-first love songs.
Breakthrough — "Tum Hi Ho"
Active since the mid-2000s, Mithoon reached the front rank with "Tum Hi Ho" from the 2013 romantic hit Aashiqui 2 — a song that became one of the defining Bollywood love themes of the decade and won him the Filmfare Award for Best Music Director. It cemented a template he has returned to often: slow tempos, piano and strings, and a big, emotional vocal.
Style
Mithoon's signature is intensity over flash — restrained arrangements built around a single, memorable melody, frequently for the emotionally-charged soundtracks of the Bhatt / Vishesh Films camp. He also sings and writes, giving him unusual control over the mood of a track from lyric to final mix.
Awarapan 2
In 2026 he opened the musical rollout of Awarapan 2 with "Ve Junoon" — a yearning ballad sung by Subodhh Sharma and written by Sayeed Quadri — one of several composers on the sequel's soundtrack. This page will grow as more of his work is documented on LyricsSol.
